… Gluten-Free Cereal to Jumpstart Your Morning!
Have you tried Van’s Natural Foods newest cereal … Honey Nut Crunch? I just tried it this past week and am craving each next bite that is awaiting me in my cereal bowl each morning.
I’m picky when it comes to cereal, I’ll admit it. I like cereal that can stand up to the milk … you know, keeping it’s crunch without getting soggy too fast. I also like just a little bit of sweetness, but the sugary cereals are way over the top for me. Needing to stay dairy-free and limiting my soy intake as well, finding a cereal that fits this bill can be tricky. I like trying new things, but I don’t like getting disappointed. Van’s new Honey Nut Cereal doesn’t disappoint!
The pieces are smaller than some of the typical cereal “squares”, and have a gentle crunch to them. They don’t break down in the cereal, but will eventually if you begin multi-tasking (like changing the laundry from the washer to the dryer) while you’re squeezing in your breakfast between tasks. They have just the right amount of sweetness – no need to add any extra agave or honey to this cereal. It’s perfect without the added sugars. Yay!
I really like that it’s made from five whole grains – oats, brown rice, millet, quinoa, and amaranth. Each 3/4 cup serving (32g) loads me up with 2 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber. I know you can get more protein in other breakfast foods like eggs, nut butters, etc., but sometimes I just want to grab that quick bowl of cereal and be on my way. This cereal seems to satisfy me through the whole morning. I am a habitual mid-morning snacker, but I find I don’t do that (as much) with Van’s Honey Nut Crunch in my tummy. You know what else I like about this cereal? It’s all natural, low in sodium, and has no artificial colors (perhaps that’s why the cereal is a little more “blonde” than the cereal in the picture – okay by me), or flavors. Oh, and for folks who can’t do corn, it’s also corn-free. Yep, no high fructose corn syrup here. 😀
Since I am a snacker (shhh, please don’t tell anyone), I also like that these small pieces mix well with gluten-free, dairy-free chocolate chips, nuts, dried cherries and blueberries, and twisted pretzels to make a tasty trail mix that I can take with me on the go.
If you’re looking for a delicious gluten-free cereal, or a sweet addition to your snack mixes, be sure to give Van’s Honey Nut Crunch Cereal a try. I’m not disappointed – I don’t think you will be either.
