… With Healthful Pulp to Boot!

Sweet Bang Broccoli Juice, DailyForage.com

Using my Hurom Slow Juicer (no, this is not a sponsored post, I just like my juicer), I reap the benefits of this homemade juice recipe twice over … a healthful, delicious juice and perfect pulp for my Confettied Potato Pancakes. Don’t you just love it when you get twice the rewards for the same amount of work? Yeah, I know you do … we all do! I’m glad I can help you with that when possible.

This Sweet Bang Broccoli Juice combines carrots, broccoli florets (please don’t let that scare you away), radishes, fresh baby spinach leaves, and sweet and tart apples. The result is a sweet fruit juice flavor with so many green juice nutritional benefits.

  • Broccoli contributes anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidants, and an abundance of vitamin K, which helps regulate the body’s ability to clot blood normally.
  • Carrots supply ample vitamin A, important for a healthy immune system and proper bone growth. And we all know the carotenoids are beneficial for good eye sight.
  • Spinach provides approximately 25% of the RDA of iron per 100g, required for proper red blood cell production.
  • Apples are rich in polyphenols – these function as antioxidants, which block free radicals (which can cause cell damage). Almost half of these polyphenols are found just under the skin, so don’t peel your apples when you juice them. You might benefit from the juice or from the pulp.
  • All of these fruits and veggies also provide natural fiber, as opposed to getting it from a fiber supplement (unless absolutely necessary). Yes, juicing with a juicer as opposed to blending in a high-speed blender can reduce the amount of fiber, but by utilizing the pulp whenever possible, you’ll reap the fiber benefits.

Plus … by keeping the pulp, you have naturally healthful add-ins for other recipes. By incorporating pulp into side dishes, one of which I’ve mentioned above, or even into your spaghetti sauces, soups, chili recipes, or even some baked goods, you boost every dish along the way. Great news for your family’s health with little, if any, added effort. And most often, they won’t even know you’ve done so. Win-win!

So without further ado, let’s get to the juicing – and pulp using – shall we?

  1. it’ very healthful recipe.will it be helpful for weight loss?thank you.

    • Great question! I believe that juicing a combination of vegetables with fruits can aid in weight loss. Juicing just fruits can create too much of a sugar imbalance and cause insulin spikes and weight gain. Adding vegetables, especial green veggies and cruciferous veggies, can help balance the sugar load and adds huge health benefits. Hope you enjoy all of my juicing recipes! Let me know how it’s going and be sure to share any combinations you particularly find delicious. After all, if it doesn’t taste good, it’s hard to continue on the healthy path.

  2. I just tried your Sweet Bang Broccoli Juice recipe. It’s so delicious! Thanks for sharing 🙂
