… A Bucket List Item?

GU Chomps Logo, courtesy of GU ChompsLast May I began working on one of my “Bucket List” items … becoming a runner. I’m not even sure I can classify it as that. It really falls more into the “slow jog/fast walk, remind myself with every step to pick up my feet so I don’t fall on my face” category. But that’s okay with me because I’ve made a start. And I’m proud of myself … and looking forward to my first 5K (which honestly is still so far off I don’t even have it on the calendar yet:-D).

There was, and still is, so much for me to know, like learning at what pace I should be increasing my speed, making sure I am warming up correctly to avoid injury, finding the proper shoe for my particular gate or footfall, and eating the right foods at the right time for good performance and strong after-workout recovery. Of course eating right means staying within my gluten-free, dairy-free lifestyle too.

Needing all the help I can get with balancing my calories, maintaining my safe food needs, and being able to sustain my energy level while putting these new demands on my body, I was so excited to find an energy chew that is gluten- and dairy-free.

They’re GU Chomps. They’re yummy and they work.

That’s it in a nut shell!

But if you want to know more, I find that these energy chews provide a sustained energy level to help me push just a little more at each workout to achieve new personal bests regularly (which you must realize right now are measured in very small increments). GU Chomps Pure Performance Energy Chews are a “gummy bear” kind of consistency, just a little softer, so they’re easy to carry along during a workout. They don’t melt or get mushy. There are two flavors which are gluten- and dairy-free, Blueberry Pomegranate and Watermelon. I really like both flavors. GU Chomps also come in other flavors, but those are not GF/DF.* Additionally, GU Chomps are available in a variety of “caffeine-added” options. These two GF/DF flavors, Blueberry Pomegranate and Watermelon contain no caffeine. I personally like that aspect.

GU Chomps contain amino acids, antioxidants, Vitamin C and E, sodium and potassium, and complex and simple carbohydrates, all contributing to better performance and recovery.

I realize that there are many energy chews, and gels, on the market, and some others may be gluten free. I was excited to see that while researching these little gems, one of my searches resulted in coming across Peter Bronski’s website. If you’re not familiar with him, he’s quite an accomplished athlete. He also happens to live a gluten-free lifestyle. Why did his site appear in my search? He’s a firm believer in GU Chomps. Yay!

If you’re looking for a gluten-free (and dairy-free) energy chew that provides important nutrients, is delicious and comes in easy-to-carry packages, be sure to try GU Chomps. I’ll definitely be putting these to use during my bucket list endeavors.

*I looked these up online and didn’t see the mention of being gluten and dairy free, but the packaging clearly states it on both of these packages. Some also state that they are gluten free without being dairy free. And some are neither, so please check the labels carefully for your personal interests.
