… Oh Such Chewy, Fudgy, Chocolate-y Goodness in Every Bite!
As many of you already know, I am crazy about chocolate. I’ve never found a chocolate I didn’t like! While I’m trying to keep my guilty pleasures at bay these days, I do need to indulge once in a while so I don’t feel deprived. Then I can continue eating healthfully most of the time and feel good about the balance. That being said, some gluten free chocolate dessert recipes or baked goods products are better than others. I have been recently introduced to a new gluten-free baking mix, Better Batter Gluten Free Fudge Brownie Mix. This brownie mix is not for the faint of heart! These brownies bake up chewy, fudgy, and so full of chocolate goodness that even I was satisfied (at least temporarily) with enjoying just one brownie (It was a large one though, hehe). To quote Better Batter’s box top, “Calling all chocoholics! We dare you to find a richer, more fudgy, moister fudge brownie than this decadent mix!” Yes, that says it just like it is! But if you are more of a cake-like brownie lover, don’t despair, Better Batter provides baking directions for this variety of brownie also. We all win, right?
One feature I appreciate about this mix is that it also conforms to dairy-free, vegan/vegetarian, and kosher needs. It even fits the requirements for the Feingold I & II diet.
As for the preparation and baking process, once all the ingredients are mixed together, the batter is thick and sweet. You can tell there is goodness about to happen in baked form. When the batter is being baked, be sure to follow the directions as they are written. Better Batter says the “brownies will be “jiggly” in the middle and will continue to set as they cool.” That is exactly what they do. So be careful not to over-bake them to the point of the “clean toothpick in the center” test.
To show you how wonderfully the brownies look when they come out of the oven, I wanted to provide a photo of the finished brownies, but they disappeared in very short time … so no photo. Trust me though, they do bake up looking just like the picture on the Better Batter box.
