… My Lips Cannot Stay Sealed Any Longer!

Red Apple Lipstick Product Review md pic

Lately I’ve been mentioning Red Apple Lipstick quite a bit on Daily Forage, Facebook and Twitter. Honestly, there are so many great things happening with Red Apple Lipstick, I’ve simply felt a need to share my enthusiasm for what’s taking place. Here is a company that has a great product line of gluten free lipstick, more about that in a moment, and is making a HUGE name for themselves. Jay Adam Harper, the owner and creator of Red Apple Lipstick, as well as being one of the most positive, enthusiastic, and energetic people I’ve ever known, is taking this company places. Nearly everyday there’s more news that Red Apple Lipstick has been honored with this award, or been invited to be part of that event, etc. And for GOOD reason. The entire line of Red Apple Lipstick is worth putting in the spotlight.

At this point some of you who follow me may be saying to yourself, “she’s just promoting them because she’s a guest writer on the Red Apple Lipstick blog.” And that would be an easy assumption to make … but it would be WRONG! I say all of these things because in the time I’ve been using the products I’ve seen wonderful results in my personal experiences. And I’ve been hearing the same “buzz around town”, so to speak.

Since I received my samples for review, I’ve been unbiasedly monitoring and evaluating the products so I could bring you a review that reflected use over a period of time, not just a quick summary. My reference to the “product” refers to each and every item I’m reviewing: Rallye Balm, Mocha Lip Pencil, Summer Sands™ Lipstick, and Clear Peppermint Lip Gloss. These are the criteria on which I’ve based my results:

Wearability – Does the product stay on during kissing, drinking fluids, brushing teeth, eating, and licking lips during the day? – YES!

Moisturizing – Does the product make my lips dry and chapped, causing the lipstick to peel and look dry? – NO! Does the product make my lips moist, soft, and smoother with each application? – YES!

Color – Does the color of the product stay true when applied? By this I mean, does the color of the lipstick in the container actually represent the color when applied to my lips?   – YES! Does the color seem to fade or change during wearing? NO!

Lightness – Does the product become heavy, thick, clumpy, or “goopy” when applied? – NO! I like to layer my products by creating a foundation of color with the lip pencil, then smoothing and enhancing with the lipstick, and finally (if I want a glossy look) dabbing on a bit of lip gloss. With many other manufactured lipstick lines, this amount of product on my lips would make me feel like a clown with sticky honey waiting for bees to come. But Red Apple Lipstick products just enhance each other, never creating sticky clown mouth.

Taste – Is there a chemical flavor or an after-taste experienced when wearing these products? – NO! The “flavor” is neutral or non-existent. I do have an exception to this … the Clear Peppermint Lip Gloss has a very mild peppermint flavor … go figure:-D It creates a nice, very subtle tingling on my lips. I like it. It reminds me of the sensation I used to get from a York Peppermint Patty in my pre-gluten-free days.

Transfer – Does the product transfer to the teeth or tongue? – NO! You know when you apply a nice, bright red lipstick for impact, and the impact is a smudge of red right on the center of your front teeth (usually discovered when you’ve just left an influential meeting)? Well, no worries here!

Gluten – Do I have to worry about ingesting gluten each time I wear my products? – A resounding NO!

Additionally, it’s important to note that all Red Apple Lipsticks, Pencils, Glosses, and Rallye Balm are gluten-free, paraben-free, allergen-free, and vegan. They are also odorless, contain no addictive chemicals, and are never tested on animals. These products are so clean, pure, and good for you that I have to admit I tried a weird thing … (okay, I’m feeling vulnerable by revealing all here but) I had a small blemish near my lip that kept cracking and not healing. With a q-tip I applied some Rallye Balm to it twice, and the healing process began. I’m not saying this will always work, but it sure helped in this scenario … Thanks again, Red Apple Lipstick! And storing them in the fridge is a really good idea to keep them fresh longer. Besides, cold lipstick feels good.

So in a nutshell summary of my review of Red Apple Lipstick, I’d like to finish with an email that I sent to Jay last week.

“I’ve been sharing on Facebook and Twitter quick comments on how much I’m loving your products. But I need to tell you personally … YOU have a DAMN GOOD Product line here! Each day that goes by that I wear your lipsticks, liners, gloss, and balm, the softer, smoother, more healthy my lips become. Thanks for making such a great line. Keep up the great work … can’t wait to try your other new treats:-D”
