Baja Sol Tortilla Grill LogoEver get a craving for fish tacos made with crispy breaded tender pieces of fish wrapped in corn tortillas and served Baja style with cabbage and a tangy sauce? Or is an enchilada filled with meat or cheese, then slathered in a spicy red sauce, more to your liking? Maybe you’re in the mood for BBQ Carnitas made of slow-simmered pork and garnished with a colorful corn salsa? Whatever satisfies your Mexican food cravings is sure to be found at Baja Sol Tortilla Grill.

Baja Sol Tortilla Grill is one of my favorite places to eat when I’m hungry for “safe” Mexican food. I never tire of eating here because there is such a wide variety of choices to create the perfect plate. Their menu offers eight “meat” flavors, such as Beef Barbacoa, a slow-cooked seasoned beef, or Chicken Tinga, serving up a  smoked jalapeno pepper flavor. They also offer shrimp, if you’re looking for something a little different, or grilled veggies if you prefer to go meatless. I find the meats to be tender, juicy, and always offering an abundance of flavors not typical of fast food eateries.

There are three main gluten-free side dishes available at Baja Sol to complete your meal: seasoned rice, black beans, or a jalapeno cole slaw. And don’t miss out on the guacamole or queso dip (if you can do dairy).

One of my favorite items at Baja Sol is the chips. When you purchase an entree, you can devour an endless supply of their delicious corn tortilla chips. The chips are thin and crispy, and not greasy. But not to be eaten unadorned, the salsa bar offers flavors like peach salsa and green chile salsa, just to name two of the eight that are offered at all times. The salsas are made with fresh ingredients to bring out the best flavors. I love the chips and salsa bar, especially with the fresh, chopped cilantro and sliced lime to add extra flavor profiles.

Baja Sol proudly states on their restaurant menus that all of their meats, sides and salsas are gluten-free. Because of this, the combinations of flavors that can be created in your tacos, burrito, enchiladas, or salads are numerous. Do be aware that flour tortillas are used in some of their dishes, so when placing your order, be sure to note a substitution would be required for the gluten-free option. And understand that there are other products used in the restaurant that contain gluten as well.

If you like Mexican food, whether you’re ready to venture into some unfamiliar flavors, or sticking to the more traditional palate, you’re sure to find something to tantalize your tastebuds at Baja Sol Tortilla Grill.
