… Not What I Originally Thought!
Seeing that the name says “milk”, I was expecting a similar consistency to So Delicious Unsweetened Coconut Milk, which I think is quite creamy and delicious.
When I poured a little of the Pumpkin Spice Coconut Milk Beverage into a glass and took a sip, I was quite surprised. This is sweet and even more creamy than their regular coconut milk used regularly by those of us in the dairy-free world as a substitute for cow’s milk.
For a glass of pumpkin and spice-flavored “drinking” milk, I would not turn to this product. For my preferences, I’ll stick to unsweetened non-dairy coconut or almond milk.
BUT … for a base to an alcoholic, seasonally-flavored drink or imbibement, I’d definitely say, “Yes, Please!” And those recipes will be coming very, very soon. Well, just as soon as I can pick myself up off the floor after all of my trial and error (no, no errors here) recipe taste testing.
Not going for the alcoholic enticements? That’s fine. I’m not leaving anyone out! Let’s splash a bit, or as much as your taste buds request, into our lattes or coffees, shall we? Oh yes!
And how about those mugs of rich, dark, hot chocolate? So Delicious Pumpkin Spice Coconut Milk is sublime in this combination. Need I say more? Not really sure I can. But…
Let’s try this deliciously vegan, gluten-free seasonal sanctuary in our pancake or waffle batter. Yep, you guessed it! Amazing! (I bet you’ll be wanting that recipe too, right? I’m on it!)
The point I’m trying to make here, in case my message was too subtle, is that while this seasonal product is sweet and resplendent, the perfect companion glass of milk to your holiday cookies it does not make. To enhance, boost, uplift, add divinity to almost anything else, I’d have to applaud So Delicious with an overwhelming YES! And a genuine, “Thank You!” for providing my gluten-free, dairy-free-acclimated taste buds with such an un-dairy-free taste and feel, holiday celebration product!
To be ever so thorough in my review, I poured a taste for my better half – Mr. Daily Forage – and had him ( a non-food-intolerant, free-range forager) give Pumpkin Spice Milk a taste test. His reply, completely without being prompted or knowing what he was tasting, “Wow, this is good! What is it?” To which I showed him the container and suggested he try it in his morning cup of Joe. His response? “Good idea!”
So this holiday season, Thanksgiving Day dinner and drinks feast, or just for an evening toddy to keep the cockles warm, break the Pumpkin Spice Milk free from the fridge and enjoy. And don’t be afraid to share it with all your guests.
