… Sweet and Smooth!
Today’s juice, made with my Hurom Slow Juicer, is definitely a “yes” in my book. It has a sweet flavor, which isn’t really distinctive of a particular ingredient but more of a cohesive and complementary blend. Smooth is the only correct way to describe the texture. Nearly void of all pulp, there is a velvety-ness that I LOVE! It still surprises me sometimes that such a “creamy” texture can come from just combining natural fruits and vegetables. Makes me wonder (more than sometimes) why so many chemicals and food conditioners are required for gluten-filled as well as gluten-free products. Since I keep track of all of my juice recipes, I’ll need to put a star next to this one so it is clearly labeled as a favorite. Let me know what you think!
Grape Orange Ginger Juice
Makes about 2 8-ounce servings
1-2 navel oranges, peeled and cut into chunks
2-2 1/2 cups seedless red grapes
1/2-inch disc of ginger, peeled
2 medium carrots*, scrubbed and cut into discs.
Juice oranges, grapes and ginger, while alternating with a couple slices of carrot. Keep a couple pieces of carrot to run through the juicer last.
Drink and enjoy!
*In case you’re wondering why I don’t often mention the carrots when I’m describing the flavor profile of my juices, it’s because the carrots, when blended with other ingredients, don’t give much of a distinct flavor addition. They do seem to enhance the sweetness a bit. Mostly I use them precisely for that reason. I can get the nutritional benefits of the carrots – without noticeably giving a presence. Another important reason I use carrots is because they are great at “cleaning” up all the other pulp that went through the juicer before it. Two birds with one stone, my friends!
